More on that history..

Those who fail to learn from history…

….are doomed to repeat it.

The fed’s decided to print money as fast as it can…apparently it hasn’t gotten the memo that bad debt and lending is still at the core of the problem…and generating more bad debt and lending probably isn’t going to fix it.

When will we learn to stop reloading the gun after shooting ourselves in the foot?

Lightroom

It’s pretty cool what you can do nowadays with photos….and how easy it is to do it.  I’ve been playing around with Adobe’s Lightroom lately, and rather enjoying.  It makes the process (known as workflow) for going through, sorting, discarding, and editing pictures a lot easier.  it still has some quirks for what i do, but for the most part it works really well.   It’s helped me keep on top of my growing collection of pictures….though I have a large backlog to work through yet…mostly in getting all my pictures back in one location instead of scattered through numerous diffent ‘backup’ folders of time.I’ve started using it to go back through photos I shot previously and applying some new affects to them with some fun results.  It’s pretty cool to see how a change in the way  a picture is developed changes the mood of the picture.  I’ve taken some pictures from Josh’s going away party, which were (intentionaly) a bit dark to begin with, and gave them a fun ‘gritty’ look appropriate to the evening.  Be sure to check ‘em out!

FAIL

DSC_6169

Oops….Looks like it’s time for a new camera bag….say, one that my camera actually fits in.

Casualty above is the 70-300.   The cracked bit is just a filter that was one the front.  The lense itself still takes pictures, although zooming is a decidely manual affair now.

I don’t think the camera even realized that anything happened.

New Cam and Flash

So I started playing around with the more advanced features of Nikons CLS (Creative Lighting System)   It works much more seamlessly with my new camera than it did with the D-70….enough that I’m really looking forward to putting it to use with some umbrella’s for Laura’s engagement photo’s.  I’ll of course have some photo’s up here afterwards.

Overall I’m really pleased with the D300.  It just seems to do a better job with everything and I’ve been pretty impressed with the image quality straight out of the camera.  The extra dynamic range, better image control, and lower noise really show through more than I expected them too.  And while I never had a problem with the d70….it feels a lot more ‘toyish’ when I pick it up nowadays.  Although throwing the 70-200/2.8 offsets that in a hurry :)

I should have another round of pictures going up soon if I ever get around to organizing them.  I’ll keep ya posted!

Cathey’s Wedding

Meant to post this earlier this week but, oh well.

Photo’s from the wedding are up for your viewing pleasure!  I had a blast and it was great to see everyone….even if the drive back sucked :)

Time Lapse Fun

So my Fourth of July weekend was largely spent putting up trusses on our shop. I figured this would be a good time to play with the interval feature on my new camera and make a time lapse video of the days fun.  It turned out pretty good, click on the pic below to watch the results!
